The YSCA Coach Course
With the growing interest from young athletes to excel in sports, youth training has become a fundamental aspect of coaching.
At Strength & Conditioning Education, we have observed a lack of educational resources in Youth S&C training and have decided to take action!
Our Youth Coach course is the second out of the three components within the Youth Pathway. To undertake this course you can upgrade from the Assistant or enrol onto our fully endorsed and accredited Pathway.
Course Content
Here’s exactly what is covered in the Youth Strength and Conditioning Coach Course following on from and building on the Youth Assistant modules:
Module 1
The YSCA Coach Introduction – debunking common myths about youth sports training using scientific evidence, emphasising the importance of proper supervision, age-appropriate and individualised programs, multi-sport participation, and careful monitoring of training loads, maturation rates, and recovery
Module 2
Pathway Levels 1-2 – Focusing on key physiological outcomes such as work capacity and cardiovascular development, demonstrating progressions across various fitness components including preparation, recovery, strength, conditioning, power, and speed.
Module 3
Profiling, Programming and Monitoring – Exploring the concept of profiling in sports, which is a data-driven process that assesses an athlete’s physical characteristics to enhance their performance. Covering the four main components: movement screening, competency assessment, fitness testing, and anthropometric analysis.
Module 4 & Case Study
Youth Coach knowledge check assessment followed by case study submission and certification.

Why Should I Do this Course?
From football to running to tennis and many other sports, if you’re looking for a thorough overview of how to work with young people from a physical perspective this course will give you the education you need.
Delivered fully online, this is a flexible, applicable and engaging short course that will leave you more confident and able to coach and deliver simple but effective movement programmes to Youths and other young adults.
You will also have a far greater understanding of what is good practice which will stand you in good stead when overlooking your child’s training programme and working with practitioners and coaches in the future.
