Youth Strength and Conditioning Specialist

This is a two day (16 hour) course designed to develop a higher standard of youth S&C practitioner, the Youth Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

 

During the specialist course you will learn how to coach and develop young people to a far higher level of competency. Specific modules include:

Advanced Youth Physical Assessment

Advanced Youth Movement Management

Loading Physical Literacy Competencies Progressively

Advancing Power Training in Youth Populations

Planning, Managing and Monitoring in Youth Populations

Olympic Lifting Derivatives with Youth Populations

Scenario Based Training – Problem Solving Common Challenges Faced when Working with Young People

Inter-Disciplinary and Multi-disciplinary Working

Advanced Excite, Engage, Enable Methodology

You will be assessed on your ability to design youth development programmes and coach young people using the Excite, Engage, Enable methodology.

In order to apply for the Youth Strength and Conditioning Specialist course you must have successfully completed the YSCA coach course.

The assessment process is fully competency based. No one will obtain Youth S&C Specialist status without demonstrating they have achieved the course outcomes.

At the end of the Youth Specialist course you will be eligible to mentor Youth Strength and Conditioning Coaches, apply for the Master Coach Programme, apply for the YSCA Coach/Tutor Training programme and open an affiliated YSCA Performance Centre.
